Changes At KAAA Grassroots Elections

At Nyamira's sub-branch elections, Charles Asati, the 1972 Olympic gold medal winner as a member of Kenya's 4x400 metres quartet and a former Commonwealth Games 400 metres champion, was elected unopposed as first vice-chairman.

At the elections held in Nyamira town and conducted by the Nyamira district sports officer Zachary Okora, George Kimani pipped outgoing chairman Alfred Momanyi for the key position by 13 votes to 12 while Joseph Mogaka was voted in as second vice-chairman.

Others elected into office were: secretary Peter Oenga, assistant secretary Isaac Oseno, treasurer Christopher Otwabe and assistant treasurer Tom Omboga.

In the only incident of note, officials from Nyamira division presented two lists of delegates but after discussion, both sides agreed on one of them.

However, this delayed the proceedings for over 30 minutes.
