Road Accidents Blamed On Government

The Kenya National Union of Teachers has blamed the government for increased road accidents. The union's secretary-general, Mr. Ambrose Adongo, said the government's failure to account for Fuel Levy funds had resulted in the pathetic state of the roads.

The Knut boss sent a message of condolences to the families of the 75 victims of the Wednesday bus crash near Kericho. The accident involved a Kisumu-bound Shaggy bus and an Akamba Public Road Services bus.

On Saturday, 11 passengers perished near the Keumbu trading centre, 14 kilometres from Kisii town, after their bus, the Great Southern, plunged into a river. Forty-four injured victims were taken to the Kisii General Hospital.

Mr. Adongo challenged MPs to boycott Parliament to force the government to make good its promises to repair the roads
