Fifa to renovate four stadiums

The world soccer governing body Fifa will finance the renovation of at least four stadiums outside Nairobi as part of a programme to promote the sport in the country.

KFF secretary Sam Nyamweya said the assistance from Fifa will focus on the establishment of floodlights in the four stadiums which, he said, will be identified once the whole programme is finalised.


The official who was speaking during the opening of the Under-17 Coca-Cola- sponsored youth tournament at Gusii Stadium, denied the accusations that he is the architect of a plot to sabotage Kisii-based Shabana FC.

Amid calls from the crowd to shed more light on the allegations Nyamweya criticised local leaders who, he said, had concentrated more on politics and could not plan on how to fence the dilapidated Gusii Stadium.
