In Nyamira, adds Robert Nyasato, more than 1,000 Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters defied police orders restraining them from holding a demonstration against the Government for invading the Standard Group.


The protestors, led by George Ongaga, poured into the town's main streets, demanding the Michuki's sacking.The twig-waving demonstrators marched along the Konate-Senta Road before attending a rally at Nyabita Market.

Similar protests were held in Awendo and Uriri townships, with hundreds of youths calling on the Governmnet to gurantee press freedom.
