Headmaster, 2 sons held over exam cheatinge

A father and his two sons have been arrested after one of the children was found to have impersonated the other in the just-concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.

The man, a primary school headmaster, is suspected to have colluded with his elder son, a Form Three student at Kisii High School, to sit the exam on behalf of his younger brother.

The trio are being held in custody at Kehancha Police Station.

Kuria District Education Officer, Mr Otwori Mochanga, said the younger son was also sitting for the KCPE exams at Nyabohanse Boys Boarding School in Mabera Division.

The DEO, who could not explain how one candidate was registered in two schools, said he dispatched an inspector of schools to the two examination centres following a tip-off.

The boys were arrested 15 minutes to the end of the last KCPE paper.

Mochanga, who was accompanied by an Administration Police officer, said he had contacted the Kisii High School principal and was told that the suspected student sneaked out of school last Friday.
