Nyamira Gang Robs Commuters At Dawn

Highway robbers yesterday went on a dawn rampage in Nyamira District as they robbed travellers of cash and personal effects.

In the first strike, four men who had posed as commuters carjacked a Nissan matatu at Mwongoris market along the Sotik/Keroka road and robbed passengers.

The travellers were mostly business women heading to Daraja Mbili Market in Kisii town who lost Sh4,600.

In an earlier incident at about 4.30 am, a Kisii-bound pick up matatu was ambushed on an illegal road block at Omugonchoro area along the Kisii/Nyamira road.

As the vehicle slowed down, three men armed with simis and rungus snatched Sh3,000, and mobile phone from the driver, Evans Momanyi.
