Uhuru Campaign in Kisii 'Haphazard'

Kisii Kanu politicians have expressed concern over what they termed the haphazard manner in which Mr Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigns are being conducted in the district.

Messrs Sam Nyamweya and John Anunda said yesterday it was disheartening to see that campaigns for Kanu's presidential candidate in the area were not being conducted properly.

They said those in charge of Uhuru's campaigns in the area lacked tact, ability, focus and strategy to carry out such a monumental exercise effectively in a politically competitive and sensitive area like theirs.

"This, in our considered opinion, is a costly experiment that is likely to have disastrous consequences to the party's chances of a clear victory in Kisii and Gusiiland," they said.

The duo suggested that the strategy be reviewed so that each district in Gusii conducts its own campaigns to be managed by "credible and known party supporters and officials".

They also urged Prof Sam Ongeri and Chris Obure to unite and work together for the sake of the community.

"It is important that campaigns be all inclusive and the spirit of team work should prevail as opposed to the current elitist, exclusive, secretive and non-voter oriented approach by one politician and his henchmen," they said.

Such an arrangement, they argued, only serves personal interests and egos of the few at the expense of Kanu and Uhuru's victory in the General Election.
