Obure Launches Uhuru Campaign

Finance Minister Chris Obure on Sunday led a team of Gusii Kanu leaders in a heroic launch of "Kisiis for Uhuru and Kanu" campaign.

But moments after leaving a well attended harambee rally at Iyabe Centre in Bonchari constituency, his convoy was ambushed by rowdy youths believed to be allied to Ford-People.

Anti-riot policemen dispersed the youths by firing rubber bullets. The rally at Steni Miwa stage on the Iyabe-Suneka road saw the youths block the large convoy which was driving towards Kisii town.

Accompanying Obure was Assistant Minister Joseph Kiangoi, Kanu activists Sam Nyamweya and Charles Onyancha, Prof Tumbo Oeri, Kisii town mayor Grace Nyangaresi and several councillors.
