Committee Set Up to Run Shabana

A ten-man committee was yesterday picked to run the troubled Shabana FC before the club can conduct elections in the next three months.

Shabana secretary Wycliffe Mageto also said the eight players reported to be quitting are still their players until they are released officially and the negotiations conducted between Shabana and the clubs they are reportedly destined for.

The interim committee picked at the Gusii stadium meeting is headed by Eng. Boniface Ariga of the Ministry of Public Works, Kisii. Club founder Dogo Khan and Mageto are still overseers.

Nine other members are Ken Osoro, Jamil Shamgee, Charles Mokoro, Richard Omenge, Fredrick Maina, Robert Gesicho, Peter Omwando, Aloise Onkuri and Alfred Michira.

Nyanza South KFF treasurer Alfred Juma and Kisii KFF sub-branch chairman Samuel Nyangeso, who attended the meeting, appealed to Kisii leaders and businessmen to come to the rescue of Shabana saying the club is in the red and may collapse if not supported.

Meanwhile, Premier league side Chemelil Sugar have axed seven players and recruited 10 new ones to make up a 30-man team for the new season beginning next month, adds Bosco Magare.

Panpaper's Tom Rero is among the new signings. The club sponsor, Chemelil Sugar Company, has improved con- tracted players monthly salary. The new club secretary Franklin Oluoch made the disclosure at a press briefing over the weekend.

He said the axed players are led by the top scorer last season Edwin Omungala who netted 14 goals in the Premier League while others include goalkeeper Hesbon Okaya, striker Stephen Maina, David Chumba, Ignatious Otieno, Maxwell Andeka and Mathew Odanga.
