Over 200 Register for Friday's Kisii Road Race

Athletics Kenya's Nyanza South branch chairman Peter Angwenyi said the men's and women's winners will each receive a cow and Sh10,000 while the second-placed athletes will get Sh5,000 and those finishing third will get Sh3,000.Angwenyi added that the athletes finishing from fourth to 10th positions in the men's and women's race will each get Sh1,000 with the top finishers also getting T-shirts.
Seasoned marathoner
Athletes are required to pay a registration fee of Sh50.Kiptenden's coach David Kosgei said seasoned marathoner Edward Muge, Cosmas Koech and Barnabas Sigei, will lead the men's team while the women's team will be led by Chepkorir Mitei and Tabitha Chelagat.
Metamaywa secondary will also field runners in both men's and women's event.Angwenyi confirmed that Friday's race will be run on the same route as last year's.The race will start and finish at Gusii stadium and will start at 9am, Angwenyi added.
He said the race will take runners from the stadium to Nyanchwa, Daraja Mbili, Kisii Hotel, Kisii general hospital, Kisii police station, Mwalimu hotel, Daraja Moja, Kisii-Chemosit road, Jogoo, Kisii prison, Kisii Law courts, back to Kisii hotel, Good Morning flats, Hema hospital then back to Gusii stadium.
Golden series
The race is the first in the three series dubbed "Gusii Golden Series."The second will be the Safaricom Sambaza Gucha 10km race on September 8 while the third and grand finale will be the Safaricom Kebirigo 10km race on October 6.
