Fulfil pledges Nyachae tells Government

Former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae has asked the Kanu government to fulfill the pledges it made to Kenyans in the party's 1997 manifesto. He said the government has concentrated much of its time in antagonising and dividing Kenyan communities at the expense of making good its pledges which saw Kenyans vote for the party.

Mr. Nyachae said mistrust, dishonesty and hate campaigns had overshadowed the Kenyan politician and social spheres leaving little room for development initiatives.Mr. Nyachae, who was addressing a divisional leaders meeting at Keumbu in his Nyaribari Chache constituency alleged that he was being trailed by the government over his stand against corruption and poor governance.

He said the police were being used to establish whether he was out to bring down President Moi's government.

"I have no ill motive against anybody but I will not be cowed to stop fighting for the interests of the common man and the rampant corruption that has brought the country's economy to its knees," he said.
Mr. Nyachae challenged the Kanu headquarters to call immediate Kisii branch elections to enable the party supporters elect leaders of their choice.

He advised his supporters to restrain from provocation by opponents within Kisii.

He said he had suffered enough and will not allow his name be used by people who wanted to cause bloodshed in Kisii.
