Mr Aloise Omae - in his 40s - told of his frustrations after being allegedly thrown out of his house by his spouse, and appealed to the Federation of Women Lawyers (Fida) to come to his rescue. The man, who removed his shirt to reveal scars in his stomach which he claimed were inflicted by his wife, said he had nothing to lose by going public.
If anything, he said, the embarrassment of going public was nothing compared to the six months he has had to spent outside his own home. All he wanted now was protection from harassment.
The Southern Kenya Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show branch chairman was allegedly evicted by his second wife and had to rent a house in Kisii town.
"For the past six months, I have been a victim of attacks by my second wife, who has even thrown me out of home after ganging up with her two sons aged 25 and 23," he said outside the Kisii Police Station.
Omae further claimed that his wife - who works as a nurse at the Kisii District Hospital - had made life unbearable for him and his first wife.
In one of six alleged serious attacks, he was injured and was admitted to the district hospital for a week with injuries to the head.
"The woman and one of her sons were to be charged in court with assault in the case, number 1497/03...
"But she insisted that if I was to receive money she got from the sale of my three cows, I had to withdraw the case," Omae said.He was more frustrated when his wife refused to hand over the Sh30,000 even after he had withdrawn the case.
"I have been making frantic efforts to have police protection but all in vain. I have even written two letters to Police Commissioner Edwin Nyaseda regarding my problems, one dated September 26, this year, and another November 11 but nothing is being done," he added.
He said he would now turn to either Fida or any other human rights organisation which can help him sort the problems he said were as a result of a relationship between his wife and a senior police officer at the Kisii station.
But contacted for comment, the Officer Commanding Kisii Police Station, Paul Maranko, said the despite was a long-standing one.
