Seven teachers were yesterday afternoon arrested by police in Bondo over the ongoing strike. The seven, according to area DEO Samson Wasonga, were in a team of about 200 teachers who had stormed Maranda High School to flush out teachers and students from the school.
In Gucha, the Knut branch chairman Stephen Otundo, was yesterday arrested by police in Ogembo town. Otundo was picked while reportedly talking to a group of teachers. In Kisii, Police are still holding local Kuppet branch secretary Daniel Orina together with five students of Kisii High School over the weekend chaos in the institution.
And in Kisumu town, there was drama as two local teachers union branch officials literally took to their heels to escape police arrest. Knut branch executive officer Oketch Hongo and his Kuppet chairman Keffa Ogui escaped arrest by seeking refuge in one of the offices at Jubilee House to evade arrest.
