Law Society of Kenya officials will tour clash-torn areas in Gucha and Trans Mara from tomorrow. The LSK chairperson, Ms Raychelle Omamo, will lead the governing council team in a fact-finding mission on the skirmishes. Kisii LSK members met yesterday at the local law courts to prepare for the visit.
Local chairman Kerosi Ondieki said the LSK team would tour the Gucha part of the troubled border tomorrow and Trans Mara on Saturday. Mr Ondieki said 60 LSK members in the area had resolved to support the stand taken by the national office in the constitutional debate.
The lawyers' society has asked its members to boycott courts countrywide on October 9 to protest at a suit by two judges against the review commission and its boss, Prof Yash Pal Ghai. The Trans Mara-Gucha border has experienced bloody skirmishes in recent years, but they intensify at election time.
