A group of Kanu delegates from Kitutu Chache constituency yesterday claimed that the genuine list has been tampered with. They demanded that the party's Secretary-General Raila Odinga intervenes in the matter to ensure that only the list of bona fide delegates is accepted for the National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Kasarani on October 12.
Led by councillors Kasmil Isaboke and Samson Obaga, the delegates claimed that the list of those who should be attending Kasarani II has been doctored by four senior officials. The councillors together with the local youths leader Charles Aming'a claimed that Messrs Richard Onyonka, Sam Nyamweya, Geoffrey Asanyo and Prof Oeri Tumbo have left out genuine Kanu delegates from the constituency in the list. They said the four officials prepared the list in Nairobi.
"We are aware that some of us have been knocked out by the senior Kanu activists who have not obliged to the recent directive that the amalgamation of the Kitutu Chache Kanu office with the former NDP officials be done on the ground and we want Raila to intervene urgently," Obaga stated. The councillors charged that there may be confusion on the material day as another team of delegates from the grassroots may storm Kasarani.
They said the party's headquarters should compel Onyonka, Nyamweya, Asanyo and Tumbo to come to the grassroots and conduct the exercise as had been directed. And other delegates also claimed that names of delegates from Kitutu Masaba and West Mugirango Kanu branches in Nyamira District have been deleted from the official list ahead of the Kasarani II meeting.
