NAK to join forces with Nyachae team

The National Alliance Party of Kenya (NAK) is scheming to join forces with the Kenya People’s Coalition under the leadership of Mr Simeon Nyachae to remove Kanu from power in the General Election. Four Ford-Kenya MPs - Dr Noah Wekesa, Musikari Kombo, Mukhisa Kituyi and Lawrence Sifuna - all allied to NAK, said yesterday the scheme is aimed at ensuring that Nyachae leads his Ford-People flock to the Alliance.

The MPs said negotiations to have the two entities join forces will guarantee a bloc vote from Western Kenya region for the opposition.Wekesa, who is the chairman of the NAK co-ordinating committee, said Nyachae is willing to work with other opposition parties in their bid to remove Kanu from power.

He said the Nyaribari Chache MP understands that no single community can win the Presidency and has seen the need to unite with other opposition parties to fight a common enemy. The MPs were addressing the Press in Webuye town in Bungoma district accompanied by all councillors from the district led by Webuye Mayor Joab Shiundu.Wekesa, who is the Kwanza MP, said Nyachae was the determining factor in the Kisii-Nyanza politics and joining NAK will enable them garner majority votes.Kombo (Webuye) and Kituyi (Kimilili) said NAK had not changed its stand that the elections be held as scheduled under a new Constitution.

Sifuna (Bumula) said the happenings in Kanu would benefit the opposition and urged the Rainbow Alliance spearheaded by former Vice-President Prof George Saitoti, Ministers Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to stop wasting time trying to fight Kanu from within.Sifuna said the Alliance leaders should join the opposition to pursue their political careers instead of fighting a losing battle in Kanu.
