Maseno hit Nyamira Technical in handball final

Maseno led 12-11 at the breather during the hotly contested match at Chemelil Academy. The handball trophy had eluded the provincial basketball and rugby champions.
On their way to the final, Maseno narrowly defeated Sawagongo 22-18 while Nyamira, coached by Gilbert Omariba, eliminated neighbours Kisii School 21-18.
Sawagongo took the third position when they drubbed Kisii School 26-12 in the third and fourth play-off match.
Bishop Okullu Magare High School lifted the girls’ handball title by beating Nyamira District’s Marindi Mixed 11-6 in a tense match. At half-time, Magare were leading 5-3.
Marindi’s Linet Nyamoyo was named the most valuable player.
In the semi finals, Magare defeated St Theresas Nyangusu 17-6 while Marindi hammered Raliew 20-15.
Kisumu Girls retained their netball title when they defeated rivals Oyugi Ogango 31-14. At half-time Kisumu was leading 19-10.
Enroute to the finals Kisumu Girls eliminated Nyamonye 35-13 while Oyugi Ogango walloped Kisumu Muslim 38-23.
Maseno School coached by John Juma Masime came from down to narrowly beat St Mary’s Yala 10-5 in a tough rugby final at Chemelil. Yala led 5-0 at the breather.
