An operation by security officers along the Gucha/Trans Mara borders is interfering with campaigns, says a parliamentary candidate.
Bomachoge's Joel Onyancha said yesterday that since the operation started four days ago, no campaigns had been conducted. Some of the people who had fled the area may not return to vote, he added.
"The police commissioner should call off the operation, during which houses have been destroyed and people injured." The operation, launched last week, was sparked by the killing of a General Service Unit officer by cattle rustlers.
At the same time, Mr Onyancha defended Ford-People leader Simeon Nyachae against accusations of favouring his relatives and friends in the nomination. Mr Nyachae had nothing to do with the nomination, he said, adding that the people picked merited it.
