Ongeri urges action on medics

Public Health Minister Professor Sam Ongeri has directed the Director of Medical Services Dr Richard Muga to take disciplinary action against Nyamira Medical Officer of Health, Dr Solomon Bongo and the medical superintendent, Dr Dan Otieno. Ongeri gave the directives at the district hospital after he failed to get any medic to attend to accident victims who had been rushed to the institution.

Professor Ongeri and Dr Erneo Nyakiba had to take charge in handling the over 15 accident victims. Some of the victims who sustained serious injuries were referred to Kisii General Hospital.

They were involved in an accident on their way home from a funds drive in Nyamira town where Nyanza PC John Nandasaba and Professor Ongeri were the guests of honour.The Nyanza PMO, Dr Ambrose Misore, later came in with a team of doctors from the province who assisted in treating the accident victims.
