Ford-P Gets Hostile Reception in Gucha

The launching of Ford People presidential campaign in Gucha was yesterday marred by heckling, booing and name-calling by the huge crowd. The rally addressed by the party's presidential candidate Mr Simeon Nyachae saw a number of main speakers cut short their speeches when the heckling persisted.

Speakers included several parliamentary and civic candidates drawn from Kisii, Nyamira and Gucha who have submitted their application for nomination scheduled for this month. The master of ceremony, Mr Henry Obwocha, who is the outgoing West Mugirango MP, had a hectic time containing the crowd.

The first casualty was the immediate former Bomachoge MP, Zephania Nyangwara, whose constituency hosted the rally at Tendere sports ground. Trouble started when Nyangwara started addressing the gathering on being invited by Obwocha. The crowd heckled and booed forcing him to cut short his speech. They accused him of being a traitor.

Others who received the hostile reception from the crowd estimated at 40,000 people were the Party's National Vice-Chairman Reuben Oyondi, a former Bomachoge MP Zephania Magara, and Kepta Ombati.
