Richard Onyonka Carries the Day in Kitutu Chache

Richard Momoima Onyonka was yesterday declared Kanu's ticket holder in the Kitutu Chache parliamentary seat. Onyonka garnered 7,125 against Nairobi businessman Orina Momanyi's 2,762.

Onyonka's uncle Prof Oeri Tumbo and former KFF secretary general Sam Nyamweya managed 1,954 and 1,117 for third and fourth positions while Jeremiah Araka trailed with 115 votes.

The hotly contested nominations saw Kanu's Nyanza South Election's Co-ordinator Lazurus Wambua nullifying results from 16 out of the 58 polling stations due to excessive irregularities.

In Bonchari, the Cooper Kenya Managing Director Charles Onyancha beat former cabinet minister Dr Protus Kebati Momanyi by 6,604 to 2,419 to get the ticket for the main parliamentary battle. Public health minister Professor Sam Ongeri sailed through unopposed. Former cabinet minister Andrew Omanga also went in unopposed in Nyaribari Chache.

In Kitutu Masaba, America based Evans Mirieri won the nominations with 7,522 ahead of James Nyarienga 6,023 and Jared Onyari 2,528.
