In Gusiiland party supporters defied orders barring them from carrying out the polls and conducted party elections. Elections were reportedly held in all sub locations in the region.

Former nominated MP, Mrs Catherine Nyamato, said party supporters had turned up at polling centres unaware that the region was among those in where the exercise had been put off. Speaking to The Sunday Standard by telephone from Nyamira, Nyamato said she had received returns from the entire 83-sub-locations in West Mugirango constituency.

"Grassroots elections have been carried out in Gusiiland despite the cancellation. We are just waiting for new dates that will see us carry out the locational polls," she said. She, however, demanded that the Narc-Kenya clarify whether it had pulled out of Gusiiland.
