Bishop Joseph Mairura of the Diocese of Kisii accused security personnel in the district of doing nothing to stop the killings of "innocent" people by marauding gangs.Speaking at St Paul's Nyabururu Teachers College during its graduation ceremony yesterday, the bishop told the district security committee to move fast to avert more killings.
He told security officers in the area to intensify patrols and arrest suspects "instead of leaving them at the mercy of lynch mobs, which kill them with impunity".Over the past three months, more than 30 people have been killed by gangsters and others by villagers on suspicion that they were witches or thieves.
