MPs Censured for Skipping Burial

Majority of elected Gusii leaders came under fire yesterday for skipping the burial of former Bonchari MP Mark Bosire.

Eight of the ten MPs from the three districts in Gusiiland did not attend the funeral that comes just a week after the burial of former Cabinet minister Andrew John Omanga. Several speakers including Former Nyaribari Masaba MP, Prof Sam Ongeri charged that Gusii MPs, led by Simeon Nyachae, should try to reunite the community and solve problems threatening development.

Ongeri, former West Mugirango MP Nyarangi Moturi and Knut national assistant treasurer Fred Ontere said that the current leadership was wanting. Ontere challenged MPs Joel Onyancha (Bomachoge) and Zebedeo Opore (Bonchari) to seek practical solutions to the community's problems. Onyancha, Opore and former assistant minister Reuben Oyondi defended sitting MPs, saying they were ready to meet their critics to articulate the problems.

Former V-P Kijana Wamalwa's brother Eugene Wamalwa told the gathering that Kenyans should support the consensus building efforts in preparing a Constitution for posterity
