Amasago Runner Takes Nyanza Crown

Maurice Mosima of St Paul's Amasago is the new Nyanza Province secondary schools 5,000m champion. Mosima, a younger brother to former junior cross-country champion Phillip, clocked 14 minutes, 52 seconds to win the title at Chemelil Academy in Nyando District.

Duke Moranga of Sugubo timed 15:07.20 to finish second while Gideon Mogaka of Nyota came third in 15:42.20. Mosima also won the 1, 500m title clocking 4:00.06 followed by Amos Misiani of Nyagokiani in 4:01.56. Mosima said he as looking forward to the national games to be staged at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega from June 4 to 10.
Jane Onyang'i of Kiomiti who won 5, 000 and 10, 000m girls' titles. Kisii District retained the overall athletics title with 238 points followed by neighbours Gucha with 157 points while Nyamira finished third with 153 points. Kisumu were fourth with 47 points.
