South Imenti MP Kiraitu Murungi (DP) moved the Adjournment Motion saying South Mugirango MP Enock Magara (Ford-K) was an active and beloved member of the House, and it would only be in order for his colleagues to suspend the morning session to pay their last respects to him.
"Putting on hold pending debates this morning is the only honour we can give our late colleague," said Mr. Murungi. But the Chair was not moved, saying the choice to attend the funeral mass should be left to individual MPs.
Ordered Mr. Omino: "I agree Mr. Magara was an active member of this House. We deal with national issues here; and there are no precedents that we have in the past adjourned to attend a funeral service of a fallen colleague. We must, therefore, proceed."
Mr. Magara died in a road accident more than two weeks ago when his car rolled several times following a tyre burst on the Kisii-Kisumu road. He will be buried tomorrow at his rural home in Mugirango.
