The branch has recommended that MPs Simeon Nyachae (Nyaribari Chache), Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache) and Zebedeo Opore (Bonchari) be suspended and expelled.
Forwarding the recommendations to the headquarters, branch chairman Geoffrey Asanyo says: "Prompt action of our recommendation will be highly appreciated by our branch."
The three were ousted from the branch leadership when Mr. Asanyo staged a coup to remove them as Kisii party officials.
He says the branch wants the headquarters to notify the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Electoral Commission so that fresh parliamentary elections can be held.
However, Kanu's expulsion rule was scrapped just before the 1992 multi-party elections although top ranking party officials have publicly said it may be re-introduced.
The Constitution does not render a seat vacant simply because a party has disowned a member. The seat becomes vacant if the MP resigns and communicates this to the Speaker in writing.
Kanu Secretary-General Joseph Kamotho yesterday confirmed that the letter from the Kisii branch had been received at party headquarters.
"The branch has powers under the party constitution to suspend a member and forward the decision to party headquarters," he said.
Mr. Kamotho said the recommendations will be taken before the governing council.
"We will discuss it," he said, although he did not indicate when.
Mr. Asanyo says in the letter that the decision was taken during an executive branch meeting held on October 13 in Kisii and attended by all members.
The branch committee gave six grounds for taking disciplinary action against the three:
*They have on several occasions contravened party policies by insulting the party national chairman (President Moi);
*They have discredited the party that sponsored them to Parliament;
*They operate contrary to party rules;
*They have called Kanu a party of thieves and crooks;
*They have never supported the party since they were elected to Parliament and
*They want to wreck the party from within and they have said it publicly.
"In view of all these, they have no business being in Kanu. Let them look for sponsorship from another party," he says.
Meanwhile, a lobby group allied to Mr. Nyachae will call a public rally in Kisii soon.
Officials of the Country-Wide Support Group announced yesterday that the rally will be held at Keroka Town to test the popularity of Cabinet Ministers Sam Ongeri and Chris Obure, who attended a harambee at Moi High School, Gesusu, last week.
Kenya Social Congress leader George Anyona also attended. During the fund-raising, Education Minister Kalonzo Musyoka, who was the guest, told the Gusii that they would not win the presidency and were being misled into quitting Kanu.
He said the community should seek the support of other communities if they wanted to remain in national politics.
