Thousands of agitated Catholic faithful and villagers sang funeral songs as they cried for the blood of a politician who they linked to the murder of the priest a week ago.
The casket containing Fr Kaiser's remains, aboard a white ambulance driven by one of Fr Kaiser's colleagues in the Mill Hill Missionary was mobbed by screaming mourners as it made a slow entry into Nyangusu, a market centre on the Transmara-Gucha border.
The mourners marched from Magina market to Nyangusu, protesting the priest's burial in Transmara rather than in Gucha.
Earlier, the Kisii parish vicar-general, Fr Thomas Okemwa said that the slain priest had a few days to his death mentioned to him that he had three fresh cases of defilement that he was going to pursue. He said the priest had claimed to have evidence on the cases.
Fr Okemwa made similar sentiments during a sermon last Sunday in Kisii, which prompted the local police to summon him for a statement.
St Joseph's Parish at Nyangusu was jammed by twig carrying and stick wielding Christians who jostled for a glimpse of the casket containing the remains of their beloved priest.
Church orderlies had to literally fight off pushing and jostling faithfuls in order to carying the casket into the Church hall.
Night vigil prayers were later led by Bishop Joseph Mairura Okemwa of the Kisii diocese.
Earlier at Keroka market, hundreds of villager waited for six hours and braved an evening rainfall as they staked out for Fr Kaiser's cortege on its way from Nairobi.
The funeral convoy of more than 30 cars meandered its way 80 kilometers into Nyangusu via Kisii town. They were waited and waived by hundreds of people along the road.
