Mr Odinga was quoted telling people in a rally held at Mr Nyachae's backyard in Keumbu, Nyaribari Chache constituency, over the weekend that the Roads and Public Works minister was spearheading an anti-Luo crusade in Gusii land.
The MP who is soliciting for votes for presidential candidature had requested all communities in Nyanza to vote as a block. Chanting anti-Raila songs along the Kisii-Isebania road, demonstrators protested against what they termed as unwarranted attacks on the Ford People leader and the Kisii community.
Circumcision
"Mr Nyachae's statement about circumcision was meant to remind the Abagusii about their traditions vis a vis that of the Luos. That does not amount to incitement," said the Kisii leaders.
On the same note, in a press conference called at Parliament buildings yesterday, Abagusii MPs refuted the claims that Nyachae had used circumcision to discredit Mr Odinga.
"The Kisii community and the Luo community have lived in harmony as neighbours for centuries despite the fact that the Luo take pride in being uncircumcised as opposed to the Kisii who take pride in being circumcised."
Calling on Raila to apologise, the Kisii leaders distanced themselves from last week's declaration that the community would support Raila's presidential bid.
"As a community we shall do wider consultations before making our stand public," said the Kanu deputy organising secretary Manson Nyamweya.
