I’m not quitting politics, says Nyachae

Cabinet Minister, Mr Simeon Nyachae has retracted his earlier announcement that he would quit active politics. As he launched President Kibaki’s re-election campaign in Nyanza, Nyachae said he would not retire as earlier reported. The Roads minister said he would ensure President Kibaki gets a second term in office.

"I am still active as Ford-People leader and I will play a major role in the next General Election," he said. It has been reported in a section of the media that Nyachae could be picked to lead President Kibaki’s national campaign team, if plans to merge pro-Kibaki political parties succeeded.

On Friday, Nyachae lashed out at the media accusing it of making his retirement an agenda.Nyachae said it was only his constituents who had the mandate to ask him to step a side. The Nyaribari-Chache MP said he will make known his political future in two months."My constituents will know my decision between September and October, but at the moment, the media should stop pushing me out politics," said Nyachae.
