As time runs out, all aspirants have been on all systems go in their efforts to woo the voters in their favour. For instance, events going on in Bobasi constituency cannot go unquestioned as aspirants are positioning themselves strategically and marketing their ideas enthusiastically. The constituency has so far attracted a host of more than 20 aspirants led by the perennial representative.
Sitting MP Steven Manoti and former finance minister Hon Chris Obure are once again keen to maintain the their seats, making the Bobasi constituency battle a two man show. But constituents are keen this time to make a change of guard as they feel that that can be the only way of changing their living standards for the better.
Despite the constituency boasting high farm produce in tea, maize and other cash crops, the constituents get peanuts on their produce because of poor roads in the constituency, lack of processing plants and the necessary infrastructure. The need for parting ways with the past has been long overdue hence I am calling upon the constituents to make timely decisions and interventions that will give the Bobasi constituency the leadership that will help it achieve its full potential.
The area MP Hon Steven Manoti has been so preoccupied by his private business empire. The outspoken MP has maintained a studious silence in the august house, though, and in recent times has been making rounds in the constituency basing his re-election bid on his development record.
That, unfortunately, has been limited to areas around his Masige clan at the expense of others in the expansive Bassi constituency.
I am calling upon the constituents to be wary of such leaders.
