Nyachae to Retire From Politics

A Cabinet minister has hinted his plans to retire from active politics.Roads minister Mr Simeon Nyachae has hinted strongly that he will soon retire from active politics due to his age. The Nyaribari Chache MP is 74.

"When the time comes I will call my fellow Kisii MPs and have a meal together before waving goodbye to politics," he said.
The Nyaribari Chache MP said he did not want to die while clinging on to power, adding that he has held positions of authority for along time.

" I started working as a junior civil servant and became a chief secretary before joining politics and leading a political party. I think I have tasted enough of power," said Nyachae, whose civil service career spans over three decades. Speaking at the Gusii Institute of Technology during the Abagusii Cultural and Development forum, Nyachae maintained that it is only age and not pressure from any quarter that will make him retire.

" I will retire only on account of age but not that I have lost my political clout," he said.The minister said he had groomed able leaders in the community who can take over the mantle from him
