The two men were identified as Mr Zakaria Nyabuto (37) and 33-year-old Thomas Oeri. They were ambushed at 7 am by raiders as they were harvesting maize in their shamba.
The district commissioners from the two districts, Mr Wilfred Ndolo and Joseph Satia immediately convened two public barazas following the killings.
Mr Ndolo and Mr Satia urged the Kisii and Maasai communities to co-exist peacefully as they had done in the past seven months.
Tension along the border was high as the administrators addressed the residents at Ole Njaani in Transmara district and Masesema area in Gucha district.
Police from both districts launched investigations in the Siangoi area where the incident occurred.
The police urged locals not to avenge the killings as the government had taken steps to arrest the suspects.
The two DCs have scheduled a joint public baraza to be held at Masesema in Gucha.
