Muungano wa Mageuzi plans to hold a public rally at Gusii Stadium on Friday.

A group led by a national steering committee member, Mr. Titus Magara, said more than 30 MPs and several human rights activists are expected to address the crowd.

Mr. Magara and his group had gone to the Kisii police station to acquire a permit for the meeting but were instead referred to the local police boss, Mr. Anderson Wambugu, who asked them to check with his office today.

The officer said he had asked the Mageuzi officials to give him time to consult with other government organs on the matter before authorising the meeting.

However, Mr. Magara told reporters that Mr. Wambugu had refused to issue the permit, claiming that the notification forms were out of stock.
