Roads minister and Gusiiland supremo, Mr Simeon Nyachae, has on his side nearly all parliamentary aspirants in South Mugirango, including Magara’s younger sister.
Nyachae faces seven ODM aspirants in Nyaribari-Chache. An ODM aspirant in the region, Mr Barnabas Ariga, captured the situation thus: "We are ready to sacrifice our resources to ensure we remain united behind the ODM candidate. We know Nyachae is not a light weight."
In Kitutu-Chache, former MP, Mr Jimmy Angwenyi, will face former PS, Mr James Ongwae, Mr Richard Onyonka, Mr Osoro Kebati and Mr Justus Mochoge.
In West Mugirango, the outcome of PNU nominations will determine the chances of National Planning minister, Mr Henry Obwocha. PNU parties are negotiating a deal to support Mrs Catherine Nyamato or Dr Erneo Nyakiba. ODM has Dr James Gesami, while ODM-Kenya has Dennis Abincha.
Another titanic battle will be in Nyaribari-Masaba among four aspirants: Former Cabinet minister Prof Sam Ongeri, former MP, Dr Hezron Manduku, Prof Ratemo Michieka, lawyer Ocharo Kebira and former DC, Mr Ezekiel Machogu.
