Mr. Manoti said that he will withdraw supporting the medical staff when the ministry of health posts staff to the facilities. The Bobasi MP lamented that many facilities funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) have remained closed due to lack of medical staff.
He added that the facilities which costed the government millions of shillings to construct will be beneficial to the community when they were functional.
“It is in this regard that I have decided to commit part of my salary towards paying the nurses awaiting postings by the ministry of health”
he said.
Mr. Manoti observed that it was too costly for the community to pay for the health staff serving them. The MP noted that shortage of medical staff in health facilities had remained a threat to the provision of quality health care. “You do not expect patients to get quality health care when there is no medical staff to attend to them” he said
Mr. Manoti said that for sometime the ministry of health had not posted medical staff to health facilities in Gucha District. “During the recent postings the ministry did not post a single staff to the District despite the health facilities experiencing staffing crisis” Manoti posed.
On politics Manoti told his constituents to stick with Ford –People party under the leadership of Roads Minister Simeon Nyachae. “Through Ford-People the Kisii community has been able to negotiate with the government on the distribution of the national cake” he claimed.
He added that it was through this spirit that Mr. Niche, Henry
Obwocha and Assistant Minister Joel Onyancha were appointed into the cabinet when president Mwai Kibaki constituted a Government of National Unity (GNU) “As the Community we shall be doomed if we abandon the party to join opposition whose development agenda is not on record” he added.
