Health minister Charity Ngilu said they were aware of the problem at Ogembo hospital and assured Mr Omingo Magara (South Mugirango, Ford People) that it would be addressed.
The minister recalled that the health centre was designed as a district hospital when Gucha District was curved out of the larger Kisii District by retired President Moi.
The facility has an in-patient capacity of 20 beds, an outpatient department, a dental clinic, pharmacy, laboratory, TB clinic, consultancy rooms and administration block.
Answering a question by Mr Magara, the minister said: "I am also aware that several deaths have been reported, majority of which are attributed to malaria, Aids and tuberculosis."
The minister assured the MP, who is the chairman of the Public accounts Committee, that the Government was in the process of sourcing for funds to improve the facilities.
Mr Magara had lamented that the facility had failed to live up to its status and led to many deaths by residents who had to travel to Tabaka and Kisii district hospital.
Meanwhile, two questions on the order paper were dropped because the MPs who had asked them had since been appointed to the Cabinet.
House rules bar a minister or assistant minister from asking questions.
The two are Mr Henry Obwocha (West Mugirango, Ford People) and Mr Mirugi Kariuki (Nakuru Town, Narc).
Mr Obwocha, now Finance assistant minister, had wanted Education minister George Saitoti, to tell the House how much money was spent by the Koech Commission on education.
Mr Kariuki wanted the Foreign Affairs minister to explain why Kenya failed to benefit from the United States Millennium Fund.
