Nyachae, Asanyo Differ Over Community's Future

Ford People leader, Mr Simeon Nyachae yesterday clashed with former Kisii Kanu branch chairman, Mr Geoffrey Asanyo during a burial ceremony over the political destiny of the Abagusii community.

Trouble started when Asanyo who was the first to speak told Nyachae, the Nyaribari Chache legislator, to lead his party in forging an alliance with the ruling coalition, Narc.

Asanyo said that since independence, this was the first time the community has been left out of the Government especially in Cabinet appointments and other key positions.

He advised Nyachae and MPs Henry Obwocha and Godfrey Masanya to stop wasting their time and join the ruling party.

He was speaking during the burial of Charles Ong'au who is the proprietor of Keroka Executive buses at Raitigo village in Borabu division, Nyamira District.

"I am challenging all Kisii MPs to swallow their pride and form a coalition with the Government to avoid our people in the (Civil) service being sacked like the two cases we have witnessed," Asanyo told the mourners.

Asanyo is currently the Narc co-ordinator in Nyanza and Rift Valley provinces.

Responding, a charged Nyachae said he would not forge an alliance with Narc, which he said was currently rocked by internal wrangles.

He said prior to the last general election, he had met with President Kibaki, Raila Odinga, Moody Awori, Charity Ngilu and the late Kijana Wamalwa to deliberate on how to form a formidable government but that the leaders turned him down.
