Drama At Kanu Office As Kiangoi is Chased

Assistant Minister Joseph Kiangoi was attacked by irate Nyamira delegates outside Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Nairobi.

Kiangoi, who is the Nyamira Kanu branch chairman, had entered KICC where he picked security badges and allowances belonging to West Mugirango delegates.

There was drama as Kiangoi sprinted towards his car parked outside the building with the delegates in hot pursuit.

The delegates, who were led by Nyamira branch vice-chairman Dr Daniel Ombachi Mogeni caught up with the Minister before he got to his four-wheel drive vehicle and roughed him up.

Kiangoi managed to jump into the vehicle, upon which his driver zoomed off at high speed. Several delegates sustained bruises in the melee as Kiangoi fought them off.

The shocked delegates, who included several councillors, said they were now stranded in the city as they could neither afford accommodation, nor be allowed into Kasarani without badges.

They accused Kiangoi, who is reportedly in Cabinet Minister Chris Obure's camp, of working to ensure they did not vote for Public Health Minister Sam Ongeri.

Obure and Ongeri have been locked in an acrimonious battle for the Kisii vote as both are running for a national vice-chairman's seat.
