The constable is attached to the station.
The others are remand suspects facing murder and robbery charges whose cases are pending at the Kisii High Court awaiting consent from the Attorney General (A-G) to prosecute.
The suspects are reported to have tortured Habel Mekenye and Lameck Tengeya who later died from internal bleeding according to post-mortem reports.
The deceased had separately been booked at the cells with the offence of burglary and stealing but were later found dead under unclear circumstances.
CID detectives led by area DCIO Maurice Nzioka have recorded statements from a number of suspects in the cells who witnessed the incident.
Area police boss Remis Warui confirmed the arrest of the constable and the five "capital offenders". He told East African Standard that the officer had aided in the torturing of the deceased. He, however did not elaborate.
"It is true that one of my junior officers who was on duty on the fateful day is being held in custody after he allegedly aided in the torturing of the two suspects who were booked in our cells," Warui said.
