Mukomoni civic by-election in North Mugirango constituency

Few voters turned up to cast their ballot in the Mukomoni civic by-election in North Mugirango constituency of Nyamira District.

Although the five polling centres in the civic ward opened at 6am, voters started showing up after 7.30am and by 11am hardly any centre had registered 50 voters who had cast their votes. The returning officer, Mr Nelson Apima, and the ECK district co-ordinator, Mrs Joyce Onguso, expressed fear over the low-key poll.

The by-election in the electoral area was called off during last year’s polls after the name of one of the contestants missed from the register of candidates.
