Budget passed to avoid penalty

Councillors from Nyamira county council, who have been wrangling for the past three days over the 2007/8 financial budget, passed it on Friday to avoid being fined Sh7 million.

They differed on issues such as a recommendation by a committee that eight employees sacked 10 years ago for allegedly embezzling council funds be reinstated.
