Man convicted for hiding under woman’s bed

A man discovered hiding under a woman’s bed was ordered to serve 12 months community service for intent to commit a felony. Dominic Bichanga committed the offence on September 4, 2008 at Bonyankama village, Gucha District. He was found under a bed belonging to Anna Bochere at 10pm.

The prosecution said that on the said date, Bochere switched off the lights to sleep but she heard a commotion under the bed. She conducted a search only to find Bichanga lying under the bed. She raised alarm and neighbours arrested him before he could slip away. He was re-arrested the following morning.

Senior Resident Magistrate Lily Ms Nafula said that community service was the most favourable sentence and ordered him to report at Nyaboterere chief’s office for instructions.
