Gusii MPs pledge Sh500 million to expand varsity

MPs from Kisii will donate Sh500 million to expand the recently elevated Kisii University. Bonchari MP Charles Onyancha, who is the convener of Gusii MPs Forum, said each of the ten members would pay Sh50 million from the CDF kitty. He said the move was to expand the university and have it upgraded to a fully-fledged university.

"We also agreed the main campus be relocated to Simbauti Farm in Borabu District because the area has enough land for expansion," Mr Onyancha said. He said the MPs would contribute through their respective CDF kitties and personal donations. Onyancha spoke at the Kisii University premises during a tour of the institution by the chairman of the university council, Prof Joseph Nyasani. He added that leaders were keen on improving education standards.
