RESIDENTS of KISII town and its environs have been warned of a marauding armed gang on the loose. Nyanza Deputy Police boss, Larry Kieng confirmed the presence of the gang in Kisii and the surrounding areas following two days of vicious attacks that has left two people shot dead and several maimed and property stolen.

After an attack in a local night club on Sunday night, the same five man gang armed with an AK47 and other crude weapons last night broke into the house of a Kisii based journalist and stole electronic goods, mobile phones and cash. Larry Kieng told reporters that as the thugs fled from compound shortly after midnight, they ran into a motor cyclist whom they ordered to stop but defied.

They shot him dead and seriously injured his passenger who is fighting for his life at the district hospital. Police officers drawn from Kisii and the neighboring divisions of Rachuonyo, Gucha and Nyamira have now been dispatched to wipe out the raging wave of crime that has instilled fear among residents of Kisii town.
