Nyambambo Market Project

The construction of phase 1 of Nyambambo Market at a cost of Kshs. Kshs.14,197,751 has been successfully completed, and was commissioned on 4th August,2008. The event was well attended by all the stakeholders and the chief guest for the day was area MP Hon. Wilfred O. Ombui. Symbolically, the market has 43 stalls, representing the 43 tribes in Kenya, as mentioned by the Council Chairman.

It is anticipated that the market will unify the people of Luo and Kisii since it is strategically built at the border of warring communities community representative Mr. Roy Dick Akumu said. The Project Management Committee thanked EU for the funds and appreciated how team work was put into play during the implementation process. They appealed for community training on project management from Government to ensure project sustainability.

The Clerk urged community members to use the resources wisely while being environmentally conscious. Hon. Ombui (chief guest) thanked EU for the support and congratulated the council for completing the project well on time. Poverty is not permanent, said the MP who challenged the warring communities to put aside their differences and take advantage of the newly constructed market to sell their produce to foster closer ties with economic growth and development.
