Kuppet suffers blow as members ‘defect’

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) suffered a major setback after some of its members said they will join primary school teachers in the strike on Monday.

Yesterday, Kuppet officials in Kisii rejected Government award and said they would mobilise teachers in the region to join the strike. Kisii Kuppet branch Chairman Edward Obwocha and Nyamira branch Executive Secretary Evans Nyangongo said teachers do not approve the way their union handled the salary deal.

"It is not the business of trade unions to fight each other but to ensure professional dignity of labour for their members," said Obwocha.
