veteran journalist Jeremire Araka over the weekend officially launched his campaign for the Kitutu Chache Parliamentary seat on a Kanu ticket adds Oanga Oyugi.
Araka who rose to the ranks of managing director with the Kanu owned Kenya Times publication before quitting to join private media consultancy in the Nairobi will face Richard Momoima Onyonka, a son of former cabinet minister, the late Zachary Onyonka, Professor Oeri Tumbo, Nairobi based operative Sam Nyamweya and a city businessman OriJ:la Momanyi during the Kanu nominations set for tomorrow.
Addressing his supporters at Marani Catholic church, Araka promised voters in the area that he will initiate the Bogetutu Co-operative Development Agency which will operate a trade bank where locals will receive loans at low interests to enable them carry out their farming activities and small businesses. The candidate said that so far, he has contacts with various non governmental organisations that will channel funds to the constituency once is elected to parliament. Araka promised to set up a home for orphans in the constituency. He also promised to approach local and international NGOs to support the orphaned children across the constituency by paying school fees to enable them access education.
Meanwhile, a Kanu parliamentary candidate for Bonchari constituency, Charles Onyancha has expressed confidence that Kanu will garner massive votes in Gusii land during the next general elections. Addressing wananchi at Riotanchi health center on Sunday, Onyancha who is battling it out with former tourism minister Protas Momanyi for the Kanu ticket advised voters to elect development conscious leaders. Onyancha said the constituency needs leaders who can initiate development projects. He pointed out that unity among elected leaders is paramount if development projects were to ompleted.
