Nyachae departure will orphan many politicians

Roads minister Mr Simeon Nyachae’s plan to quit active politics is sad news to his supporters and many politicians. However, the news is sweet to the ears of his rivals. The Nyaribari Chache MP, who rose to the highest position in the Civil Service before he joining politics in 1992, is a no-nonsense personality who takes his opponents head on. Nyachae contested the presidency in 2002 and lost, but his Ford-People party was a safe ship in which nine MPs in Gusiiland sailed to Parliament.

Apart from South Mugirango MP Mr Omingo Magara who later abandoned Nyachae and is now in ODM-Kenya, the rest have remained loyal to him. To them, the news of his intended departure is too sad to bear.
