Stolen Goods - Policemen Held
Sources at the police station said the two were identified as accomplices by suspected robbers in custody. CID officers found stolen goods worth millions of shillings and three guns in their house.
The sources said the policemen were arrested on Monday and might appear in court on Thursday. Bungoma deputy head of police Nelson Okioga refused to confirm the reports, saying the matter was being handled by government departments.
Elsewhere, a mob killed a suspected gangster, seized his two accomplices and burnt their pick-up truck on Tuesday night. The gang of about 10 had raided a home of a teacher in Kisii South District, injuring him and his two sons.
The teacher's wife raised the alarm and villagers who responded killed one gangster and arrested two, among them a retired teacher, said Kisii South District Commissioner Mohamed M Mohamed. The teacher and his two sons are receiving treatment in hospital.
